FAQ/ABOUT HYPNOTHERPAY
QUESTIONS ABOUT HYPNOTHERAPY
Most people have questions or preconceptions about Hypnotherapy, some have fears due to fictional cinematic portrayals, not understanding the difference between Stage/Entertainment hypnosis and Theraputic/Clinical Hypnotherapy or even past experiences will poorly trained therapists. Here are some of the more frequent questions/fears, and you are invited to contact me with any other questions or concerns! These can also be individually addressed in our first session or consultation, you are safe to ask anythng at all so you can trust you're in good hands and I hold your well being and privacy in the highest regard and with zero judgement.
I'm afraid I'll lose control and do something embarrassing
you will never do or say anthing you don't want to do. consent is necessary for hypnotherapy to be effective; when you see stage hypnosis, the participants are willing and even expecting to be given suggestions to do silly things. you can even lie under hypnosis. I do not have control over you! You would never do anything you would consider 'wrong' or say anything you don't want me to know. None of the hypnotic inductions I use involve physical touch. Remember, you can always take full control at any time!

What if I can't come of hypnosis, or if the something happens to the Hypnotist during a session and I get "stuck"?
you cannot be 'stuck' in hypnosis, that doesn't happen except in fictional thriller films. your strongest emotion and impulse always wins, so if something were to happen like a piano fell on me or there were a fire during a zoom session, your conscious mind would be aware something was wrong and you would come fully out of hypnosis and able to attend to what is needed.
Can I be hypnotized? I'm really sceptical and have a very active, logical mind.
anyone can be hypnotized! we are in minor states of hypnosis when we are falling asleep, fixated on driving a long stretch of road, fully engrosed in a good movie. I know several techniques to induce hypnosis, and also some modalities i use don't require being hypnotized at all!
the stronger and more discerning your mind, in fact, the easier it will be for your conscious and subconscious mind to work together to meet your goals.
Will I forget everything that happens? Will I be like a zombie?
Hypnotic Amnesia is very rare, and typically only happens in more extreme cicumstances such as using Hypnotherapy during surgery in lieu of anesthetic (yes, it's really done!)
On occassion you might not recall everything from our sessions in great detail, but nothing like amnesia. Your conscious mind is still present, working in tandem with your subconsciousness. Also, during hypnotic induction I give you the suggestion that you will recall everything that happens during the session; I also assess your depth of trance and mostly work in the realm of a medium-level Hypnotic state, you won't be 'like a zombie' but a verbally interactive participant during the session. If you start to "go too deep" to be able to interact, I am adept at methods to gently and efficiently bring you "up a couple levels" so you get the most out of your session and leave not only feelng much better than before, but remembering the gist of the session.
